Why do people die?
There is a season for everything. Animals, plants, and people live for
a certain amount of time (a season) and then they die. When people
die, they complete the cycle of life.
Helping a Child with Grief
What can an adult say to a child following the death
of a beloved family member or friend? Children often ask probing
or painful questions. For a grieving adult, it may seem daunting to have
to explain death to a child, especially when there are no simple answers.
The following guidelines may make this process easier.
Talking with Children
about Grief
Wars, shootings in schools, natural disasters, deaths
at sporting events, as adults we hope that these and other tragic outcomes
will never happen anywhere and definitely will not impact the children
and youth we care about. We would like to protect those young minds from
the pain and horror of difficult situations. We would like to ensure that
they have happy, innocent, and carefree lives.
